We keep a daily journal on Chase. Something we can go back on, understand different techniques and how they are working. We get lots of bad days, but a couple days ago, we got a nice entry, that warmed my heart. I’m currently out of country on a business trip, so my wife has to hold the fort on her own (bless her for this).
So I get a Facebook message from her that started like this:
Here’s my Chase journal for today… You’ll be so proud – I’ve been trying to get him to use sentences, and tonight, he asked me ‘can i have…’ not ‘i want…’ I was really proud…
Below is the actual journal entry. Some quick notes: gf = gluten free, and Jamie (a girl) is my wife’s friend and (great) hair stylist.
January 23…. Woke Chase up and he was in a good mood… after school he ate lunch like a boss!!! Jam on gf bread, and some gf banana bread- awesome! He was very quiet this afternoon (I think he was mad at me for giving him his B12 shot… I’m alone this week, so pretty much have to hold him down and give it to him) – he watched a lot of Netflix (he JUST figured out what it was, so I let him) and we played for a bit… We went for a quick car ride and he was babbling in the back seat… Jamie came over for dinner and to hang out and Chase was pretty good with her… she definitely noticed how much Chase has grown in the past couple months… He ate his dinner pretty good – decent I guess… mostly just chicken, but I think that’s the most important… Then, this evening he asked me ‘can i have mamas phone please?’ WOW! Jamie and I ‘cheersed’ over that one! I was so proud of him!!!!! He really had to think about what to say at the beginning, but he did it!!!!! Yay Chase It sure didn’t take long to get him to do that… more complete sentences from now on – that’s my new mission. I think that when he gives me a broken sentence, I’m going to tell him what the complete sentence is and have him say it… here’s hoping!!!! I gave the boys a bath and asked if they wanted a story… then Chase said ‘can i have the farm book, please mama?’ Holy crapcakes – I was floored! So of course I read it to them!!!!! Both boys went to bed great with no complaints! Even Sawyer was doing alot of repeating tonight! It was a really nice day!
Yeah… I’m proud
